WEST END 2024
The West End Celebration is the big arts event that happens every summer here on the Monterey Peninsula in a place by the water called Sand City. This year I decided to apply to have my own booth and worked for several months to complete smaller projects I had started with the goal to display/sell them in that setting. As well, I was able to have one of my large pieces from my mostly textile body of work titled PANDO PORTO (art from a pandemic lockdown) on display. Beloved objects found new homes and I had some fantastic conversations with people ranging from non-collecting art folks to those who invest in and are very interested in an artist's creative vision. I also enjoyed chatting with fellow art teachers and spending time with my art pals.
I wasn't sure what to expect as far as items that would sell, so I worked on many different things- all of which I love to make. Because of what I learned via this experience, I look forward to making more smaller artworks, monster tees, Blib-Blob necklaces and LINDALAY monster dolls for next year's festival.

*I wish to thank everyone who supported me by purchasing works, my bud Karen Bustamante for making sure I had a pee break and for taking these photos, Christine and Alex Sheridan who took time from their vacation to help me set up and break everything down and also Compact Disco for sponsoring my booth.

I had a great in-person conversation with Dennis Taylor from the Carmel Pine Cone about my art-life and current body of work on display at COMPACT DISCO. I love how he listened, engaged and then arranged my story for print. Click here and then scroll to 23A to read, or if you are on the Monterey Peninsula, you can grab a paper copy pretty much anywhere!
*One minor correction I'd like to share is that I didn't attend the American Film Institute. I applied and went to Otis, instead.
